Their Story

Kensley and Jamel met the good old fashion way: family members playing matchmaker. Sometimes there’s nothing better than the people who know you best setting you up so Kensley has her cousin to thank for getting her and Jamel talking on the phone way back in her senior year of high school. Even though she was in Texas and he was just started his freshman year of Louisiana Tech, the two spoke every day since their first conversation and after 13 glorious years together, they knew they had to make it official.

Since they wanted the day to be special and intimate with the people who had been through it all with them over the years, they new a Cactus Collective wedding was the perfect route for them. They also love traveling and experiencing new places together so the Overlook at Red Rock Canyon was ideal for a memorable experience together.

This fun loving couple brought a handful of close friends and family with them to celebrate their next chapter together. Kensley looked stunning in a strapless white gown with a sprawling bouquet. She confesses that when she found the dress at a boutique in Houston Texas it was the opposite of what she had envisioned but it wound up being the perfect dress for her.  We hear this from so many brides and have learned how important it is to be open-minded while dress shopping. She personalized her ensemble by blinging out her converse shoes with pearls. Comfort is key but there are so many ways to stay true to your look these days and this is such a great example of that.

The couple had their first look before seeing each other at the ceremony and wouldn’t have it any other way. Their favorite part of the ceremony was the saying of the vows. “When he was reading his vows and the canyons were in the background, it was just a beautiful moment,” said Kensley. When asked for their advice to future couples getting married they said “Don’t stress about anything-Cactus Collective handles everything!” We love hearing that because that’s the entire reason we do what we do. Cheers to this amazing couple!
