John and Matthew Find Forever
John and Matthew’s love story began in the early days of LGBTQ+ online spaces, connecting through a website called Downelink—a precursor to modern dating apps. Their first meetup at a mall in 2009 sparked an undeniable connection, filled with laughter, go-kart races, and even a photo booth moment they still cherish. Though life and timing weren’t always on their side, their bond grew stronger, culminating in a sweet first kiss at a Toronto nightclub in 2010.
In April of the same year, Matthew asked John to be his boyfriend during a heartfelt picnic with homemade sandwiches and sunny skies. From that moment on, they built a life full of adventure—traveling, hiking, thrift shopping, and raising their beloved dog, Jake.
For their wedding, John and Matthew chose a celebration as vibrant and unique as their love. They exchanged vows at the iconic Neon Museum, complete with an Elvis officiant, adding a touch of fun and nostalgia. Afterward, they explored the city with a downtown walking tour, creating unforgettable memories as they embarked on this new chapter together.
