How to Plan a Brunch Wedding

It’s a glorious Sunday afternoon and you sit sipping mimosas listening to the birds chirping while the breeze blows through your hair. As you sit there with your best gal friends chit chatting about the amazing man you are engaged to the thought occurs to you: “Why can’t I just have a wedding as relaxed as Sunday Brunch?”

You’re in luck! And you’re not the first person to think of this brilliant idea.  Brunch-themed weddings are totally a thing. If you’re ready to start planning your very own brunch wedding, I’m over here at my keyboard rooting you on.

In fact, I’m here to help. There are lots of things to consider and this blog will give you some tips and ideas for planning a brunch wedding.

Venue

One of the best perks to having a brunch wedding is getting a cheaper rate since you are holding your ceremony during the day. Venues charge more for evening weddings as it’s considered primetime and many venues know they can possibly book two weddings in one day if you book them for the morning. This is also your chance to pick a more casual setting for your micro wedding if you are a more laid-back kind of couple.

JW Marriot

The best brunch wedding spot might also be a great hotel. Think about the benefits of having a luxurious hotel room just steps away from the wedding venue. It’s a super two-for-one type of situation.

The resort and spa has beautiful spots for outdoor weddings. JW Marriott’s grounds consist of an impressive array of pools, cascading waterfalls, and lush gardens.

Yummy onsite restaurants and splendid ballrooms that can be decorated to match your theme are both good options for when it’s time to eat, drink and be merry.

Lotus House

If you want to go for more of a private home type feel, this is the place for you. The Lotus House is a luxurious, stylish and intimate retreat that is easily adapted to match any dreamy wedding vision. This private mansion will be all yours on your wedding day. A lush outdoor garden space compliments a large modern interior making this facility perfect for both a wedding ceremony and the brunch reception.

Canyon Gate Country Club

This private club offers couples the chance to feel like a member on their wedding day. The large reception room and the adjoining terrace are both lovely spaces for a sunny brunch wedding. Huge windows provide plenty of natural light for the indoor portion, and the views of the golf course and the distant Red Rock Canyon from the terrace are spectacular.

Eiffel Tower Restaurant

Weddings and receptions at Paris Hotel are hard to top! Take the iconic 11th-floor setting across from the Bellagio fountains and throw in an electric atmosphere, acclaimed French cuisine and stunning views and you’ve got a recipe for a stunning brunch wedding.

A Vegas Casino Resort

Cactus Collective Weddings is proud to offer several Casino Resort locations to our brunch wedding couples. Each has its own distinctive style and vibe, but they all offer a top notch brunch experience for you and your wedding guests.

In no particular order, they are:

Resorts World Las Vegas

This new side of Sin City boasts refined interior styling choices and 5-star services and amenities. Light and airy ceremony locations feel timeless and modern giving couples an upscale yet classic option for their wedding day.

Bellagio Hotel & Casino

The Bellagio is famed for its elegant and romantic scenery and high-end dining options, anyone of which would make for a great brunch following your ceremony over looking the dancing fountains.

Durango Casino & Resort

This quiet and intimate space is great for micro weddings but also has room for larger groups. An adjacent indoor/outdoor dining area welcomes you post-ceremony for brunch.

Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa

Surrounded by swaying Palm Trees, beautiful greenery and luxurious pools with sparkling water below, you can’t help but feel the sensuality that radiates at this famous resort.

Decor

With a laid-back approach instead of a formal evening celebration, you’ll want decor to match. For instance, you can opt for a light dusting of flowers and paper lanterns perhaps as opposed to an elaborate display that looks like someone robbed 10,000 flower stands. Brightly colored glassware juxtaposed with black or gold flatware can make for an amazing color palette to set the ambiance.

For place settings and centerpieces, you can have lots of fun! Gift each guest a specialized coffee mug filled with specialty coffee beans, some cute sunglasses to keep them shaded while they brunch, or some fun table activities like crossword puzzles that contain fun facts about the couple.

Succulents and individual potted plants make for great centerpieces and guests can take them home as a party favor to live on long after the special day. Flowers in mason jars are also a cute option and another great take-home party favor as well as personalizing jars of jam that make for a tasty treat later.

Outdoor daytime celebrations also yearn for playful activities like lawn games, piñatas, and cornhole. Since you will be exiting your reception when the sun is still out, opt for a balloon arch for you to walk through instead of sparklers.

Dress

A brunch theme gives you the chance to wear that cute little white dress you had or that Boho number you spotted at one of your favorite stores. This is your day so have fun with it and wear what you want!

Guys can wear a nice blazer and khakis as opposed to a full suit and tie. Brunch weddings are all about the comfort and ease and that vibe can certainly extend to your chosen attire and the guest dress code too.

Entertainment

Out with the loud late-night DJ. In with the easy listening and yacht rock background music. Plus, some people don’t want a dance floor at their wedding. A daytime reception gives you a perfect excuse to skip it. Instead maybe get a local folk band or bust out your favorite classic records!

Food and Drinks

We saved this for last because it’s the most exciting part of a brunch wedding! Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is a mimosa bar or perhaps a designer donut display but there is a myriad of other great ideas, so we thought we’d just make a list for you.

The Good, The Bad and the Things You May Not Have Thought Of

Pros

Wrapping your wedding by mid-afternoon leaves time for sunset pictures.

Good for guests with children who wake up early and are ready for day-time fun.

A short 4-hour wedding as opposed to a marathon 8 hours.

Save money on a venue by not booking a Saturday night wedding.

Booking outside of the most popular times can make it easier to find a venue.

Got a plane to catch early the next morning for the honeymoon? You can go to bed early!

Cons

Very early wake up times for hair and makeup and getting ready.

Could be harder for guests to attend if they are bogged down with morning activities.

Less time for activities and mingling with guests on a 4-hour time schedule.

We hope this helps get some ideas going for you to go out and create an amazing brunch wedding that you and your guests will never forget!
