Laura and Geoffrey met through work and actually have Geoffrey’s boss and friend of 25 years to thank for inadvertently setting them up. Laura works for her family’s construction company and Geoffrey works for a company they work closely with. He was overseeing a job for her company so his boss gave him her number as his contact. They quickly got to know each other and eventually Geoffrey got up the nerve to ask her out. They’ve been inseparable ever since.

While on a trip to Vegas for ConExpo in 2017, Geoffrey told Laura “the next time we come I’m going to marry you” and with that, they were engaged. Since it was the second marriage for both of them they talked about the engagement and picked out the ring together. When the ring arrived however, he did get down on one knee and asked properly!

The couple got ready separately before the wedding to keep that element of surprise and had their first look with the photographer in the lobby of the hotel. Though Laura had originally planned on wearing a blue sequins prom dress for her big day, she wound up finding this stunning dress at the last local dress shop she looked in: The Perfect Pair Bridal in Charlottetown, PEI Canada. It was definitely worth dragging her sister in law all over town looking for it.

She had a few nice words about the vendors who helped the couple make this ceremony possible: “Our officiant was very sweet and the vows she did for us were wonderful. Bianca at Amelia C & Co was the sweetest. She did a great job on my hair and makeup and was very helpful as I had no clue what I wanted. Our photographer Heather, I cannot say enough great things about her. Neither of us are picture people at all but she made everything so easy.” They also used Penelope’s Paper Pantry on Etsy for their awesome invitations.

They had dinner after the wedding at the Strip House Steakhouse in Planet Hollywood and said the service and food were amazing. “I’d highly recommend dealing with Lori and her team. I think everyone agreed it was the best wedding meal they’d had,” says Laura.

All in all this was a really fun wedding to be a part of. If you are going to invite others to your elopement it’s important to pick people who know how to have a good time and that’s exactly what they did. Her advice to other couples eloping is “Have fun with it, don’t take it seriously, laugh and enjoy it.”
